Memorial Educational Grant

The Memorial Educational Grant memorializes our former VSPC Board Members by awarding an education grant(s) to eligible Payroll Professional(s) in recognition of their commitment to educational and professional growth. This grant was created in 2022 and will be awarded annually in honor of our former Board Members.

The purpose of the Memorial Educational Grant is to recognize individuals dedicated to the payroll profession, like our former board members, and encourage their advancement in the payroll profession with this grant.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Actively working in the payroll profession
  • 1+ years of payroll experience
  • Completed application
  • Former recipients are not eligible for five years after receipt of the award
  • VSPC Board and Committee members are not eligible

Education Grant:

  • Current year VSPC Registration*
  • Two-night hotel stay*
  • One year membership to a local chapter of your choice (If already a member, this will extend the current membership)
  • Nontransferable

*If the winner has paid and booked the hotel, VSPC will issue a refund and convert the hotel to the VSPC master account.

Important Dates:

  • Application Dates ~ Until June 12, 2026
  • Judging Dates ~ June 13 - July 24, 2026
  • Notification to Recipient(s) ~ July 25 - July 31, 2026

  • Application Questions:
    • 10 Points - What have you done to date to expand your payroll knowledge? 
      • For example: List Certifications, education, training courses, department/company trainings, etc. 
    • 20 Points - If awarded the educational grant, describe how it would help you in the advancement of your professional career. 
    • 20 Points - A description of career accomplishments.
      • For Example: How did you land in payroll? Have you grown within your organization?, Projects and cost savings you have worked on. How do you convey payroll concepts to other departments/Employees?, etc. 
    • 20 Points - A description of personal accomplishments. 
      • For Example: Personal and professional both go here, Mentoring within the community or organization, Community Service/Charity, Teaching within the community – Chapter Study Groups, Money Matters National Education Day, Financial Literacy, PAYO engagement, at the national, state, and local level, etc.
    • 10 Points - What are your future goals for professional development? 
    • 10 Points - How do you plan to enhance the payroll profession during your payroll career? 
    • 10 Points - Why do you feel that you are the correct candidate for the memorial grant?
